A Look At Juvenile Prisons

Its a damn shame the number of young people who get caught in the net of the criminal justice system and the same is true in Houston. Any attorney will tell you, if a young person is a criminal as a teenager, the likelihood of them carrying on a life of crime increases exponentially.

After a brief phone conversation with Houston DWI attorney Tad Nelson (link to his office location), I looked around on YouTube for information related to what its like for young people who are convicted of criminal offenses and I took the liberty of adding the video below.

I’m sure a number of these kids are good at hear, but made mistakes that landed them in child prison.

Across the United States, thousands of children have been sentenced as adults and sent to adult prisons. Nearly 3000 nationwide have been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Children as young as 13 years old have been tried as adults and sentenced to die in prison, typically without any consideration of their age or circumstances of the offense.

96% of the children in child prisons are drug users and a number of them are victims of child molestation.
